The 26 runes in the "futhark" alphabet were used in Scandinavia until about the
10th century AD. I present them as the alphabet or in random order, painted on
wood or paper, carved in wood or lead sheets, assembled from twigs,
or painted to resemble carvings in stone. I keep in mind the
Nordic cultural context in which the runes were originally used.
